Bradley was born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, a rural
area, but not removed from opportunity. Surrounded by the beauty of the
landscape, artistic parents and grandparents, musical family members,
and a healthy creative competition with cousins, Bradleys artistic
drive began early. Certainly the choice to pursue painting and
his investigation of our relationship to the environment, our histories, and our relationships to each other, has
been influenced by this upbringing.
After early college investigation of music, theater, languages, and literature,
Bradley enrolled in The Art Institute of Boston. This began a serious
dedication to painting that has sustained to this day. He graduated with
a BFA in painting in 1990. Shortly thereafter he completed a summer program
in Landscape painting at the Accademia Internazionale di Belle Arti in
Treiste, Italy. Following a move to New Orleans, he continued his studies
at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts where he received the Shirley
Lehman Award for creativity in 1995. Returning to the Northeast, Bradley
enrolled in the Summer Residency program of The School of Visual Arts
in Manhattan, completing that program in 1997. Since that time he has
completed his MFA in painting at Johnson State College in 2006. Bradley has been living and painting in Johnson
Vermont.
